Shelters post lists of pets they can no longer hold. We keep those lists in one place, updated every morning and evening, so rescues and fosters can act in time.
What the labels mean. These come from what each shelter posts about a pet or its list.
Most urgent. The shelter flags this pet as immediate or gives it 3 days or less. Act now.
Shelter deadline within about a week. Time is short.
On the shelter's at-risk list. More time, but still needs a rescue or foster.
The shelter is over capacity. No individual deadlines, but crowding raises the risk.
Listed at an open intake shelter with no stated deadline. A stay is never guaranteed.
Shelters across the country post lists of the pets they can no longer hold, scattered across hundreds of separate websites, PDFs, and social pages. Last Chance Pet pulls those lists into one place and updates them through the day, so a foster, rescue, or adopter can find a pet before the shelter runs out of options.
We show what shelters publish, nothing more. Every listing links back to its shelter, and the urgency labels come straight from each shelter’s own posting.
We do our best to keep these records accurate, but we cannot guarantee accuracy. Even with multiple updates a day, details can be reported incorrectly or change between updates. Always confirm a pet’s status directly with the shelter.
The most useful thing you can do costs nothing. Every share puts these pets in front of someone who might foster, adopt, or pull one in time.
If this site helped you find, foster, or pull a pet, or you see something we should fix, write us a note. We read every one.

Enter your ZIP code and we will email you when an urgent pet is posted near you.
We only use your ZIP code to find at-risk pets near you. Your location is never shared or sold. Every alert has a one-click unsubscribe link.
Some states are not listed yet. We only show shelters that publish their own at-risk lists, and many states do not post one in a searchable format. We are adding more over time, so check back.
